Description
Kuba lidded boxes, intricately carved, were used to hold tukula, red camwood, mixed with oil and applied to the body as a cosmetic. Crescent shape is typical of most Kuba cosmetic boxes.
Held in a private collection, obtained in 1991 and at least 30 years old. In good condition with a beautiful patina and only minor damage at the pointed ends of the lid. Slight red hue on the inside indicates it has most likely been used for its intended purpose.
